SSIAM VN30 ETF is officially licensed to start public offering at the end of May 2020

On 22 May 2020, SSI Asset Management Co., Ltd. (SSIAM) has officially been licensed by the State Securities Commission to start public offering of SSIAM VN30 Exchange-traded Fund (ETF) which replicates the VN30 Index of the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HOSE). The initial public offering (IPO) period is expected to start around 26 May to 29 May 2020.

SSIAM VN30 ETF was granted the certificate of initial public offering by the State Securities Commission on 21 May 2020. The Fund is managed by SSI Asset Management Company Limited (SSIAM) together with its fund founders, namely SSI Securities Corporation (SSI), Mirae Asset Securities Company Limited (Vietnam), BIDV Securities Company Limited (BSC); Supervisory bank is Vietcombank; The transfer agent is Vietnam Securities Depository (VSD).

SSIAM VN30 ETF is an exchange-traded fund with unlimited operational time. The Fund applies a passive investment strategy with the aim to track the VN30 Index’s performance as closely as possible. The initial scale of the Fund is expected to be at least VND50 billion.

The IPO period is anticipated to take place around end of May 2020 to end of June 2020. After the IPO period, SSIAM VN30 ETF will be listed on HOSE. The trading method of fund certificates on the Stock Exchange is similar to that of stock trading.

This is the second ETF on the market that replicates the VN30 Index with the aim to meet investors’ demand, especially foreign institutional investors. The Fund is expected to attract additional capital inflows into ETF products on Vietnam’s stock market.

According to SSIAM, the VN30 Index represents 73.4% of the market capitalization of Vietnam’s stock market. This index consists of 30 blue-chip stocks in various industries with the highest market capitalization and liquidity on HOSE. Some of them are full in terms of foreign ownership availability. The VN30 Index is also well-known in derivative trading, and so far, it has been attracting a large number of investors in the market to invest in the form of futures contracts.

The investment strategy of SSIAM VN30 ETF is to mirror the entire VN30 Index. The launch of SSIAM VN30 ETF with low costs will be an additional investment option for investors among a wide range of recently introduced ETFs on Vietnam’s stock market. It is hoped to increase capital inflows into the investment fund market as well as to enhance market education of ETFs investments for public investors in the near future.

Earlier this year, on 18 March 2020, SSIAM VNFIN LEAD ETF was also officially listed on HOSE with the ticker FUESSVFL. Up to now, SSIAM VNFIN LEAD ETF has attracted additional funding of nearly VND100 billion from new investors compared to the time of IPO, raising the fund size to VND357 billion, equivalent to more than 37 million fund certificates. By the end of this week, the size of SSIAM VNFIN LEAD is expected to reach VND400 billion. The continuous expansion of the fund size in the context of the worldwide pandemic has shown that investors are still giving great attention to SSIAM's products.
